Oakland, CA – Fatal Pedestrian Crash Reported on I-580 near MacArthur Blvd
Oakland, CA (September 5, 2022) – A pedestrian accident that occurred in the Oakland area on Saturday evening has ultimately taken the life of one person. At around 9:15 p.m., on September 3, the California Highway Patrol was dispatched to a crash that took place on Interstate 580.
Reports from authorities show that a pedestrian attempted to run across Interstate 580 in the Oakland area. For unknown reasons, a vehicle traveling near the MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp in the Interstate 980 connector struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries due to this motor vehicle accident.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene to provide assistance. The victim was pronounced dead due to the extent of their injuries. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
California Highway Patrol added that the driver who was involved in the motor vehicle accident stopped at the scene and spoke with law enforcement. Investigations into the crash are currently underway.
