Fatal Car Accidents in California
In 2021, the state of California witnessed a loss of over 3800 lives due to automobile accidents. These accidents often result from various causes, with reckless behaviors being one of the leading factors. Some of the most common acts of negligence that contribute to crashes across our state each year include:
- Driving under the influence: Operating a vehicle while impaired remains a major cause of preventable accidents. When individuals consume alcohol or drugs before getting behind the wheel, their ability to drive responsibly is significantly impaired.
- Driving while distracted: Lack of complete attention on the road often leads to severe accidents, resulting in devastating injuries and loss of life. Sadly, numerous fatalities occur due to drivers texting, talking with passengers, or eating while driving.
- Speeding: Excessive speeding increases the likelihood of losing control over a vehicle and getting involved in collisions. Unfortunately, many people suffer injuries or lose their lives due to car crashes caused by drivers exceeding safe speeds while traveling on our state’s roadways.
