Beaumont, CA – Gina Herrera Killed in Three-Vehicle Wreck on 60 Freeway near Jack Rabbit Trail
Beaumont, CA (January 26, 2023) – A traffic accident took place in the Beaumont area on Friday evening that claimed the life of 47-year-old Gina Herrera of Westminster, Colorado.
On January 20, the California Highway Patrol was notified that they were required to help at the scene of a traffic crash on the 60 Freeway.
Crash reports provided by CHP indicate that Herrera was traveling west on 60 Freeway in a Honda Civic at approximately 10:20 p.m. At the same time, a Cadillac CTS driven by a 20-year-old woman from Moreno Valley was traveling in the fast lane.
For reasons unknown, the two vehicles collided near the intersection with Jack Rabbit Trail. The impact of the crash caused the Honda to broadside a Kia Niro, which was traveling east in the fast lane.
Herrera was fatally injured in the crash. She was declared dead at the scene by the California Highway Patrol.
The Kia driver, identified as a 44-year-old woman from Palm Springs, California, was seriously injured. She was transported by EMS to Riverside University Medical Center, where she underwent emergency treatment.
The driver of the Cadillac was not injured.
The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the accident.
We hope the injured woman is able to recover quickly.
Our sincerest and warmest sympathies are with the family of Gina Herrera at this time.
Fatal Car Accidents in California
Fatal accidents in California take the lives of thousands of people every year. There are many cases where negligence plays a role in these accidents. This is particularly true in cases where vehicles cross into other lanes of travel and strike other vehicles.
Vehicles may leave their own lanes for several reasons. One of the most common reasons is when drivers take their attention off the road. Talking on the phone or texting can cause a driver to drift into a nearby lane and strike another vehicle.
Another common cause of vehicles leaving their own lane of travel is impairment. When drivers are impaired, they are less likely to be able to maintain control of their vehicles. They may be unable to make sound decisions while operating their vehicles, which can lead them into other lanes.
Finally, we see many accidents take place as a result of speeding drivers. When drivers are traveling at too high of a speed, they are likely to cross into nearby lanes around curved roadways.
Unfortunately, any act of negligence can lead to the loss of life. If your loved one has died as a result of the fatal car crash, a Beaumont wrongful death lawyer can help your family get justice.
