South Los Angeles, CA - Two Killed After DUI Driver Runs Red Light
South Los Angeles, CA (April 10, 2025) – A deadly crash claimed the lives of two women and left several others injured in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning when a vehicle reportedly ran a red light and struck another car at high speed.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:09 a.m. on April 9 near the intersection of Normandie Ave and Century Blvd. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a northbound Buick Envision failed to stop at a red light and slammed into an eastbound Honda CR-V.
The impact forced the Honda off the road, where it struck a light pole and then crashed into a nearby gas station. Two women inside the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other occupants of the Honda sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
The two people inside the Buick were also injured and taken to the hospital. Officials have confirmed that alcohol played a role in the collision, but it remains unclear whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the crash. CHP officers are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are working to determine any additional contributing factors.
We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly.
Our sympathies go out to the families of the victims who lost their lives in this accident.

- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs): A sudden impact to the head can result in concussions or more severe brain trauma. These injuries may lead to long-term cognitive or physical impairments and often require extensive rehabilitation.
- Spinal Cord Injuries: Damage to the spine can cause chronic pain, reduced mobility, or even permanent paralysis. Victims may face significant lifestyle changes and long-term medical needs.
- Broken Bones: Car crashes often result in fractures, particularly in the arms, legs, ribs, and pelvis. Recovery times vary, but surgery and physical therapy are often necessary.
- Internal Bleeding: This serious condition can be difficult to detect initially but can quickly become life-threatening. Emergency surgery is often required.
- Whiplash and Neck Injuries: These are especially common in rear-end or high-speed collisions and can lead to chronic pain or mobility issues if not properly treated.
