Car Accidents in California
Car accidents occur on a daily basis in California, resulting in thousands of injuries to individuals each month. These incidents collectively contribute to hundreds of thousands of crashes happening across the state each year. In many cases, these accidents are completely preventable.
There are several leading factors behind car crashes in California, including speeding, impairment, distractions, and failing to yield. Speeding poses significant risks as it reduces a driver's ability to control their vehicle responsibly, increasing the likelihood of losing control and causing a crash. Additionally, high speeds make it harder for drivers to see objects or other vehicles on the road, leaving them unable to stop in time to avoid a collision.
Impairment from drugs or alcohol severely affects a driver's ability to operate a vehicle safely by affecting their ability to make sound decisions, thus increasing the chances of crashing. Distractions, such as texting or talking on the phone, take a driver's attention from the road, making them more prone to causing serious accidents. Failing to yield, whether attempting a left turn across oncoming traffic or entering an intersection without having enough clearance, can result in severe collisions if another vehicle has the right-of-way.
