Motorcycle Accidents in California
In California, motorcycle riders and passengers accounted for 15 percent of all traffic fatalities each year. These accidents leave more than 1,000 people injured every month in our state. Nearly 80% of all motorcycle crashes result in injuries for those involved.
Most motorcycle accidents are often caused by other drivers, not by the rider, according to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Regrettably, negligent drivers continue to cause harm to innocent motorcyclists in our state daily.
The most common type of collision between a car and a motorcycle is when the car turns left while the motorcycle is going straight, passing, or overtaking the car. This type of crash occurs at intersections and driveways and accounts for 42 percent of all car-motorcycle collisions, according to the NHTSA.
