Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents are a serious concern in California, where busy streets and high foot traffic contribute to a significant number of collisions each year. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, thousands of pedestrians suffer injuries annually due to reckless driving, speeding, and distracted driving. Many of these accidents involve hit-and-run drivers, making it difficult for victims to obtain justice.
Here are some common injuries that result from pedestrian accidents:
- Head Injuries: Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are common in pedestrian accidents, potentially leading to lifelong cognitive or motor impairments.
- Fractures and Broken Bones: The force of impact can cause severe bone fractures, which may require extensive treatment and rehabilitation.
- Spinal Cord Injuries: Damage to the spinal cord can result in temporary or permanent paralysis, severely affecting a victim's quality of life.
- Internal Injuries: Blunt-force trauma can cause damage to internal organs, requiring immediate medical attention.
- Soft Tissue Injuries: Bruises, lacerations, and sprains are frequent in pedestrian accidents and can take weeks to heal.
